Proclamation 1017 (Part 2)

Dear Faith,
Will Martial Law be declared? I don't know...but from where I sit I CAN see the Western ramparts of that homeland faraway, where you are thankfully safe in Liberty's glorious protection in that Continent of ever vigilant ever militant Liberty. In the Archipelago, the sun is setting once more over an unpacific sea...for now let's hold hands in the gathering darkness, where we are not supine, nor cowed, nor silent...

dear djb: my own bet is that gma, assuming she is not panicking, will not declare martial for lack of nerve and will. she knows america will not allow it, that the world will condemn her to death, that gargantuan powers did not prevent marcos from collapsing. i could sense those extra powers is really but a big stick to scare off some of her opponents, which i believe is a strategic mistake because she ends up being isolated. now her only friend is the "loyal" component of the military. it should be so lonely out there in malacanang right now.

and she knows that congress would thumb martial down, and under the present constitution, its a lot more difficult to declare martial law.
