A Future Poem

Rizalist submits something dedicated to the Twenty-first Century:

Pledge of Allegiance

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of Earth,
and to the Global Republic for which it stands,
one Human Race under God,
indivisible,
with Justice and Liberty for all,
from Birth.

Very funny Rizalist. Always kidding around, aren't you? Aren't you? You know that can't happen until we solve ... Darn it! Have you been hanging around Zenpundit again? Have you?

I think I'm going to ask others to submit their own poetry of the future...to show what each of us, prays to God for, for all of us...

A Warm Welcome Traveler!

You might want to critique this thing, even give your own version of how you think it should read. But of course, it is just a poem. It is not a polemic.

Perhaps more realistic.......

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of the Middle East,
and to the oil of which they hold,
one oil God,
indivisible,
which leaves us begging for all.

The American Left has arrived. Welcome AP! At Philippine Commentary on the First Iraq we learn the most from those who disagree, and do so with good will.

My sentiments, exactly, Dean.

However, personally I have no problems with people being left or right of center. But the extremes on either side make meaningful discourses difficult since arguments usually disregard issues.

Incendiary hate speech and namecalling become their methods of choice. And unfortunately, the ones on the left are energized more by emotional appeals/statements, rather than by dispassionate debates on the issues.

Well as you know we avoid behaving like that here at Philippine Commentary. Welcome back Amadeo. Nice to hear from you again! It's a clear night in the Archipelago, but it's comfy...the brrrr months you know (it's about 80F!)

Some in the Anglosphere may prefer the following variation, to which I am very attracted --

Pledge of Allegiance

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the UNITED State of Earth,
and to the Global Republic for which it stands,
one Human Race under God,
indivisible,
with Justice and Liberty for all,
from Birth.
