THE REAL COUP D'ETAT

NOT EVEN THE CEASELESS MYTHOLOGIZING of the usual people power ideologues could create even a squeak of celebration today in commemoration of the Fifth Anniversary of the 2001 EDSA-II PEOPLE POWER REVOLUTION. Of course not even Palace Maven Bhel Cunanan Philippine Daily Inquirer calls it that anymore. For a while, the politically correct formulation went something like this: EDSA II was a peaceful people power event that overthrew the horribly corrupt Joseph Estrada. Later this was demoted to "EDSA II was a civilian-military uprising which overthrew a popular but corrupt leader." I know what to call it now, for the benefit of the VAST AUDIENCE OF HISTORY.

The short summary is:

TWO WRONGS DON'T MAKE A RIGHT.

THE END DOES NOT JUSTIFY THE MEANS.

THE PATH TO HELL IS PAVED WITH GOOD INTENTIONS.

A longer route up the same mountain to the same summit:

What's with the picture of Gloria and Davide?

They're raising both their left hands. (mirror image)

Invalidates the swearing in?

HaHa

What, no celebration? There should be one. This is the day the Filipinos discovered Gloria and Davide made her President. Davide said the Supreme Court is the bulwark of democracy. So why is nobody celebrating the day when he, singlehandedly, restored Zion?

This is a day when Filipinos should be ringing the bells in every churches and go out in the streets dancing because Davide & Panganiban saved our democracy on this day five years ago.

Don't the people know that we owe these people a debt of gratitude: the whole bunch of Gloria, Angie Reyes, Sin, Cory, the Hyatt 10, and our military for bringing our country to this glorious day?

Are we all a bunch of ingrates? Come on! Let's celebrate. This is the day when Gloria & Davide both raised their hands with the blessings of Mike Arroyo to give us the kind of nation that we have today.

BUT NOBODY IS CELEBRATING ON THIS DAY, JANUARY 20, 2006. AND THE THICK SILENCE PREVAILING IN OUR LAND IS FRIGHTENING AND DEFINITELY OMINOUS.

AMADEO IS RIGHT!

WHY WERE THOSE TWO POWER GRABBERS SWEARING WITH THEIR LEFT HAND?

DJB, DID YOU NOTICE THAT OR DID YOU INVERT THE PIC OR SOMETHING.

THIS IS HILARIOUS!

IF IT'S TRUE THAT THEY SWORE WITH THEIR LEFT HAND, THOSE TWO JERKS (DAVIDE & GLORIA) OUGHTA BE JAILED FOR CONTEMPT OF WHATEVER!

BFR: There was so much good that GMA could've done. I was there at Edsa-2 you know, rallying my own heart out against Erap. As were many others! Our disappointment in her is one of the things that will get her in the end.

HB--At the end of the post I made a rather cryptic reference to ENANTIOMORPH, which is the term for a pair of mirror images. Yes, I did "mirror" the original pic to achieve that pictorial "essay" effect.

DJB,

Technically, the Edsa II happening wasn't a coup d'etat.

It is a mutiny with civilian backing.

Mutiny could be as serious an offence committed against a commander-in-chief as a coup d'etat. If you look at military laws of the UK and France, military mutineers are still punishable by death.

If I am not mistaken, the AFP military has a similar provision in their Articles of War.

Lucky Angie Reyes and friends! In the US, they would have been cutting in Fort Leavenworth.

HB--Imagine what would've happend if the Supreme Court upon receiving that fax from GMA faxed back a message saying they wanted to take just two weeks please to study it before swearing her in.

NOTHING. There would have been demonstrations maybe for 4 or 5 more days max, but if Erap just left for Baguio while the Court went to Boracay to deliberate, what would've happend?

NOTHING. The demos would die down. the trial would be restarted and most probably Erap would've been acquitted by his 11 pals!

So to me, it WAS a judicial coup d'etat, not by the people or even Angie Reyes, but just GmA, davide and sin, whith cory watching!
