What core of character remains in John McCain? The choice of Palin was a very reckless decision!

Christopher Orr's truism

"Sarah Palin is a living reminder that the ultimate source of political power in this country is not the Kennedy School or the Davos Summit or an Ariana Huffington salon; even now, power emanates from the electorate itself."

Is what counts. Palin represents small town America, frontier America, beauty pageant America, a state really far from America (Alaska is geographically and consciously far from most Americans. Many Americans have more a connection with even farther Hawaii!)

So the muckracking begins. Her daughter's pregnancy becomes an issue. But when her daughter marries her beau, this would earn a heap of conservative brownie points. At least her daughter ain't lesbian!

As for purported membership with the Alaskan Independence Party (the party has denied this),this would be conveniently forgotten. After all Alaska is still far off from the consciousness of most Americans, except probably now.

Palin may even give Hawaii a run for its tourist dollars!

"Sen John McCain has always been a prisoner of war... He still is".

They had no choice. They had got to appease and get the votes of the fiery "conservative" Republican rednecks.

Which brings us to very big problem....McCain wants to compaign on a reformer/change image but he chose a stereotypical racist Republican bigot for his VP. It will be hard for him to reconcile these two opposing views.
