By the way, what is more neurotoxic to fisherfolk, market vendors and society's sanity: Endosulphan pesticide or the precautionary principle of panic first before anything else that Greenpeace and the inutile Government has foisted on us? Susmaryosep! Prices of fresh fish and seafood are reportedly down by up to 50% at the Navotas seafood market but people aren't buying because they've have been spooked by all the media hype over endosulphan contaminating fish half an archipelago away. Now it turns out there is only about 100 kg. of active endosulphan ingredient on board the capsized Princess of the Stars and its in tightly sealed containers. Well, that's commercial journalism for you...

Stephen Hawking Has An Explosive New Theory About the Universe

Wasn't it the government who first raise the alarm?
Commercial media merely reported that government pulled out its divers, sent them for a medical check-up, the health secretary said he wanted to test the fish for endosulfate contamination.
Should the press have embargoed the warning by the government and waited for the test results to come out? What if the test results show there was indeed endodulfate contamination?
Haha! We can't even clean up the Pasig River, which flows right behind the Palace.
Not to worry, fresh tamban (sardines) are aplentiful and cheap. As cheap as 30-40 pesos per kilo. Same with flying fish. Good enough for kinilaw, or sushi for the urbane.
So for those fish-strapped citizens, come to Northern Mindanao!
Forgive me for not sharing in the enthusiasm, DJB, but until they design tests and validate this new story, Im relegating it to the category in my head where 'inflationary theory of the big bang' and string theory also belong: science fiction with math. :-D
JEGO,
if a giant black hole eats up the earth when they turn on the Large Hadron Collider...
DJB
I agree most wholeheartedly. Science evolved from religion.
Science and Religion:
Two ways to get to the truth - Galileo
Truth cannot contradict truth - Pope JP II
"Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." - Albert Einstein
What really is delusory about fundamentalist religion is that it says science or God is not necessary to understand reality.
Without either our understanding of the cosmos, collapses.
I am quite Swinburnian on this one!
BTW, The precautionary principle is an ethical principle. Greenpeace has made a religion without science on this one!
See you on the other side then. :-D
Give the PDI a rest DJ, it is not just the endosulfan scare that turns off people from seafood but also the fear that the fish are feeding on the floating cadavers.
DJB, interesting theory by Hawking. Not only does God play dice, he's into lotto as well.
Jeg, i like your euphemism, 'the other side'. :-D
cvj,
hahaha. an 11-dimensional hypercubical manifold lotto space...but does He load the dice and who makes the rules and what might the prize be? Surely not Homo sapiens filipinensis!
Jaywalker,
okay, okay, i'm getting bored hitting PDI ...its like shooting fish in a barrel full of endosulphan...just one more round during the coming july 4th holidy then i must look for something worthier to diss...maybe that dumb Supreme Court...hehe
