I have read his biographies about a thousand times and his "Noli" and "Fili" countless times. He is a man that comes to a nation only once and is continually blessed by his short life that he gave for his Motherland.

If only those in government today can approximate even half of what he was, this country could truly be great.Bernardo F. Great place to go for a lot of these materials that aren't even available online.

Also for this post, he transmits the impression that this was a live birth but that the child expired for some reason. Of course, he could be wrong, but there is the matter of that pencil sketch, which I am still going to publish...Deany Bocobohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01443168826029321831noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14974164.post-1150756500817378342006-06-20T06:35:00.000+08:002006-06-20T06:35:00.000+08:00I don't like Zaide's book on Rizal. But I've noticed many of the English translations don't follow the rhyming pattern of the original spanish, nor the meter. Most of the one I've seen do translate extranjera "correctly" as "foreigner". But I think "sweet foreigner" is unpoetic sounding, while "sweet stranger" has the alliterative qualities of "dulce extranjera". thanksDeany Bocobohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01443168826029321831noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14974164.post-1150703921540306372006-06-19T15:58:00.000+08:002006-06-19T15:58:00.000+08:00I think by "extranjera",Rizal meant "foreigner" no...I think by "extranjera",Rizal meant "foreigner" not really "stranger".... the Spanish and the French word for "foreigner" is similar so I reckon that's what he meant.HILLBLOGGERhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05977843513566589811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14974164.post-1150703714739961172006-06-19T15:55:00.000+08:002006-06-19T15:55:00.000+08:00Terrine de Foie Gras (not tyrinne)!Good bloke Riza...Terrine de Foie Gras (not tyrinne)!

Good bloke Rizal was - he knew what savoir vivre was - good food, good wine, good women...

Heheh!HILLBLOGGERhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05977843513566589811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14974164.post-1150702183403699562006-06-19T15:29:00.000+08:002006-06-19T15:29:00.000+08:00Happy Birth anniversary to our country's hero!Bela...Happy Birth anniversary to our country's hero!

Belated happy father's day to all daddies !Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
